Sonoma Coast Villa Unveils Its New Renovations and Restaurant
Sonoma Coast Villa has long been an intimate lodging destination in the scenic coastal wine county of Sonoma County. The resort rests on 60 acres in a mellow valley among farmland, lending the property its calm atmosphere and unique environment. Constructed in 1976, SCV was initially a culinary destination, a brainchild of the proprietors of the Blue Boar Restaurant in San Francisco to create a true “farm-to-table” experience well before its time. When the Litchfield family took over operations in October, 2016, their mission was to restore the property and rekindle the culinary spirit that built the Villa.
To that end, the hotel recently completed an extensive renovation to all of its rooms and opened its gourmet restaurant to the public. The 5-month project saw the repainting of all rooms, remodeling of bathrooms, replacement of mattresses and furniture, and modernization of amenities, just to name a few. The rustic charm of the hotel is preserved even as modern amenities are added and updated in its rooms.
Perhaps the most dramatic transformation is in the hotel’s dining room, which now hosts the fine dining restaurant, Litchfield’s. Now open to the public, Litchfield’s offers fresh and locally-sourced California-inspired cuisine. With the help of Executive Chef Michael Mullins, Litchfield’s provides the delectable food to complement the fine wines that attract visitors to the region.
Although SCV accumulated more than a little deferred maintenance over the past few years, the recent renovations have completely revived the property. Moreover, the new management is decidedly customer-focused, doubling the number of staff to ensure that guest needs are met at every turn. A trip to the Sonoma Coast simply isn’t complete without a stop at the Villa.
